Ypsilanti was first platted in 1825. The emergence of the auto industry
in nearby Detroit helped Ypsilanti develop a healthy industrial base, a
base that received worldwide attention during World War II when an auto
plant at Willow Run was converted to build B-24 bombers.
In recent
years, Ypsilanti's economy has diversified with significant growth in
the service and retail sectors.
With rolling, tree-filled suburban neighborhoods and a vibrant urban
center, the Ypsilanti Area accommodates every lifestyle.
Ypsilanti offers affordable
housing, access to state-of-the art medical care facilities, excellent schools and a high standard of living. Ypsilanti's central location between
Ann Arbor and Detroit, and its easy access to majory highways, makes it an easy commute to surrounding areas of Southeast Michigan.
